Dr. Chester Kalinda

Chester Kalinda (PhD) is a Public Health specialist and Lecturer of Biostatistics and Research Methods at University of Namibia. Kalinda holds a PhD in Public Health from UKZN, MSc in Research Methods and Statistics from Jomo Kenyatta University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Zambia. Dr Kalinda has great interests in host-parasite interactions, vector biology and ecology, epidemiology and control of parasitic infections, mapping of neglected control diseases, intervention effectiveness and health policy. His focus for the last few years has been on human schistosomiasis and soil-transmitted helminths.

Dr. Kalinda is currently a Co-Principal Investigator in an NHS funded study focusing on Development of an eHealth Surveillance System for Ingwavuma Community in uMkhanyakude District, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. He is also an Advisor to the KwaZulu-Natal Ecohealth programme (KEP) in South Africa.

Dr. Kalinda has knowledge and experience in performing high quality research and program planning focusing especially on the Primary Health Care and has a considerable experience in carrying out in depth Health research and producing workable recommendations and guidelines on future research and program directions, integrating international policies and standards tailored to meet local needs.
