Dr. Keven Joyal-Desmarais is a behavioural scientist that conducts research on how psychological forces can be used to encourage positive behaviours in society. This includes the promotion of health-related behaviours (e.g., vaccination, exercise), prosocial behaviours (e.g., volunteerism, philanthropy), and healthy relationships (e.g., between romantic partners), while also seeking to reduce negative behaviours (e.g., aggression, discrimination, risky sexual behaviours). His core area of expertise involves how interventions (e.g., workshops, media campaigns, adverts) can be personalised to better account for the motivational forces that drive people’s behaviours (e.g., their values, beliefs, goals). Dr. Joyal-Desmarais received his PhD in social psychology, from the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Joyal-Desmarais’ role at HPV Global Action is to review and assess presentation and intervention materials, and provide feedback based on current scientific knowledge. He is also involved in the design and analytical steps of studies to evaluate our work.
