Echezona Udokanma is an aspiring health researcher with a passion for improving health outcomes in low-resource settings. He is a University College London African Graduate Scholar and graduate of MSc Global Health and Development. He has presented his research at diverse health conferences and published it in different journals. Possessing in-depth analytical skill, he is a member of the review board of two international journals. Also, he has worked as a research assistant in different health programmes including; the Integrated Sustainable Childhood Pneumonia and Infectious Disease Reduction in Nigeria (INSPIRING) Programme Evaluation and Research. Here, he developed interventions currently implemented in Nigeria for the improvement of healthcare providers’ performance in childhood pneumonia management.
In 2015, Echezona graduated as the best student in Health Education from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. His interest in cervical cancer sprang from his undergraduate thesis on ‘knowledge of risk factors and preventive measures against cervical cancer among University female students in Nigeria’. The result of which inspired further research with other female population groups and consequent design and implementation of a cervical cancer prevention awareness programme in Lagos State, Nigeria.
Aside from research, he has an interest in business administration and has worked as the import manager of a pharmaceutical firm where he successfully designed a public-private partnership in the importation of diabetes and hypertension management drugs to ameliorate the scourge of these ailments in Nigeria. He has also played an advisory role for private business firms.
